There are many ways to support the YMCA of Portsmouth. Most donors make gifts and pledge payments by check, credit card or bank draft. Others take advantage of tax savings that come from giving appreciated stocks, shares of mutual funds, bonds, real estate, or other types of personal property. A growing number of YMCA members and friends incorporate gifts into their financial and estate planning. Strong Kids, Strong Communities Campaign
The YMCA of Portsmouth conducts the Strong Kids Campaign each year to solicit financial assistance from area businesses and members of our community. These funds underwrite the costs of youth programs and scholarship aid to low-income families and individuals.
Corporate Sponsorship
The YMCA of Portsmouth offers Corporate Sponsorship opportunities for organizations in the community that wish to give back and help support the programs the Y offers. As a Corporate Sponsor, when you give to the Y, you strengthen our community. As the nation’s leading nonprofit for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, the Y uses your gift to make a meaningful, enduring impact right in your own neighborhood. Annual Golf Classic
The YMCA of Portsmouth’s Annual Golf Classic enefits the Strong Kids, Strong Communities Campaign, which provides opportunities for youth in our community to attend life-enriching programs such as Before/After School, Summer Camp, and Swimming Lessons. Donations also provide activities and memberships for families and individuals who would not be able to participate in Y programs without financial support.
This year’s event will be held at the Riverfront Golf Club in Suffolk on May 13, 2011. Format will be 2-person Florida best ball, with shotgun start at 12:00PM. Registration form and additional information is available on downloadable brochure, and registration is currently open online under "Special Events".
Silent Auction
Raising funds for the Strong Kids campaign is the goal of the annual Silent Auction, but fun is had by all! We have live music, silent and live auction items, finger foods, and a wine/beer tasting all in an elegantly decorated setting.

Angel Swim
The Portsmouth YMCA Aquatic Club (PYAC) hosts the Angel Swim every fall to raise funds for local charities and for the Strong Kids Campaign. Swimmers ages 5 to 18 take pledges for each lap they are able to swim. Edmarc Hospice For Children, Habitat For Humanity, Hoffler Creek Wildlife Foundation, and the Salvation Army are past recipients of the Angel Swim.
